This is how we feel when we go into Satan's grounds, the prisons, with a bunch of Christian bikers.

ABOUT US AND OUR MINISTRY

Jack and Carolyn Burbridge founded FROM CRIME TO CHRIST MINISTRIES IN 1972. Jack's life story, THE ENFORCER, was released in 1980 and has been distributed in jails and prisons around the world. Jack worked building cars upon his release from prison in 1971 to raise his family and go back into the prisons to tell inmates the love that JESUS has for them. In 1980, he and Carolyn went out full time and the LORD has provided since then for them to continue the ministry HE has called them to.

Jack has always had a love for motorcycles. In 1960 he and Carolyn had a motorcycle wedding. In 1998 GOD showed Jack how he could use motorcycles as a witnessing tool behind prison walls. By training several bikers in the prison ministry the doors of the prisons were open for him to have Bike Rodeos in the prisons. Now there are several groups of bikers going into the prisons across the state of Arkansas, Iowa and Indiana. This gets inmates out to the yard that would never come to the chapel. Hundreds of thousands have come to JESUS because these men and women are willing to go behind bars and share the love of JESUS.

Jack and Carolyn are also available for Biker Sunday at churches. They bring a group of motorcyclists to a service that shows everyone that you can be a Christian and a biker too. It shows young people you can have fun being a Christian and it shows older people that you shouldn't judge the person by the outside. Jack and Carolyn are also available to minister at your church without the bikers. Jack also holds meetings in schools with other bikers. They are not allowed to preach in the schools, but instead they tell the youth about
"choices" they make that can affect their whole lives.

Most of the ministries support comes from individuals who believe in what Jack & Carolyn are doing.

JACK & CAROLYN BURBRIDGE MOTORCYCLE & PRISON MINISTRIES
F
rom Crime to Christ, Inc.

Praise The Lord!!  We want to thank you for your contribution in September. We are so thankful for your support over the years.

Our CPA made three suggestions. Number one: you may make the last contribution to FCTC dated no later than Sept. 30, 2017. Number two, if you still want to support a prison ministry, we suggest Locked Down For The Lord Ministry, Inc. Larry and Kathy Medford, P. O. Box 1900 Hope, Arkansas 71802. I have enclosed an envelope for your convenience. Please continue to support them also. Please pray about this. Number three if you would like to consider sending me (Carolyn Burbridge) a love gift it would be greatly appreciated, but I cannot send a tax free receipt as this would be a love gift. All three of these suggestions were made by our CPA.

When we are all HOME with JESUS, we will meet the ones touched by this ministry that you have helped support. I don’t think this will he too long in before HIS COMING.

We will send a tax deductible receipt at the end of the year unless you want one sooner. Just let me know.

Thank you so very much for your continued prayers and your faithfulness. Looking forward to our Savior’s return.

Please keep my (Carolyn) health in your prayers. GOD is faithful.

Don’t forget about our book The Enforcer.  We are sure that you know someone that needs to read it.  For $8.00 you can receive the book. That covers the shipping & handling!  Continue to make out contributions to From Crime To Christ or FCTC and a receipt will be sent to you annually.  We also have a CD and a DVD of Jack’s testimony available.  For the CD $8.00 and the DVD $13.00.  That includes shipping and handling!

Praise The Lord!  Thank you so much your love gift in September!  We appreciate so much!

Praise The Lord!  Thank you so much your love gift in September.  We appreciate you standing with us!  I know it would mean so much to Jack.  The ministry has been going on for 43-1/2 years.

We went to the Hot Springs Rally and believe a lot of souls were touched by seeing Vern and his wife Toni and their youngest daughter, with her husband and small daughter there lifting up JESUS in their time of grief.  It made four generations of us there.  I wanted to be there, as an encouragement to those at the rally.  The rally magazine had a whole page memorial to Jack.  There was also a moment of silence for Happy Jack’s memory on Saturday night before the concert!  And Vern, Toni and myself worked at the rally.  We thank GOD for using us as a witness for HIS GLORY!

We received a homemade card from Malvern Prison with 28 signatures of inmates!  So thankful for that!

We want to thank everyone for their love gifts to the ministry as well as to me personally! GOD and everyone has been so good to me.

We ask for your prayers for us as the ministry continues!  My strength is slowly returning.  My doctor said it would take awhile, which she said is to be expected I know GOD has it all under control!

Praise The Lord!  Thank you so much your love gift in July!  We appreciate so much!

Vern was getting some fuel for his semi in Little Rock and another trucker came up to him and asked him if he remembered him.  Vern has emblems on his truck saying From Crime To Christ Motorcycle and Prison Ministries.  He thought Vern was Jack.  He said that when they came into a prison he was in, he got saved and changed his life around.  He bought a semi and was also ministering in prisons!  What a blessing that was!

We are going to a large motorcycle rally in September and Vern will be going into a Arkansas Prison with Locked Down For The Lord Prison Ministries also! That is Larry and Kathy Medford’s ministry!

We want to thank everyone for their love gifts to the ministry as well as to me personally!  GOD and everyone has been so good to me.

Praise The Lord!  Thank you so much your love gift in June!  We appreciate so much!

On June 13th we had a celebration of Jack’s life.  Over 300 attended.  We did not get a count of motorcycles that
were there but there were several!  Kelly Masters sang three of Jack’s favorite songs; Yes Lord We will Ride, Grace and Mercy and The Alabaster Box.  Chase Burns sang I Can Only Imagine.  Nick the Greek, Joe Head, Dennis Ballinger and Larry Medford spoke.  Then our son, Vern, got up to speak.  He called me up to be by his side and I put his Daddy’s cross around his neck.  It was a very touching time and many tears were shed at that moment but all in all it was a happy time of Jack’s home coming!  Pastor Terry Simpson spoke and then he baptized our 11 year old great-grandson, Kayden Roy.  Kayden wanted his great-grandpa to baptize him but since he was unable to he decided to be baptized at his great-grandpa’s homecoming celebration!  The service closed with the Grace Band singing How Great Thou Art!  The following Sunday an elder from Grace Church said he wanted his “funeral” to be just like that!  We are hoping to have a DVD of the service but am not sure if this will be possible.

We want to thank everyone for their love gifts to the ministry as well as to me personally!  GOD and everyone has been so good to me.

As a lot of you may know Jack went home to be with the LORD on May 16th!  We would have been married 55 years on June 24th and I still cannot comprehend that he won’t be coming in the door at any moment!

The ministry will continue!  Our son Vern will take over as president and our daughter Jackie is already vice-president and I am secretary/treasure!  We as a family thank God for HIS presence in our lives at this difficult time!  I believe that GOD has a great calling to continue this ministry.  Vern has already talked to me of going out on speaking engagements with me in the future!  I will continue to write to inmates and Jack’s book THE ENFORCER will be in the prisons. Jackie is a strong prayer warrior!

Praise The Lord! Thank you so much for your love gifts in January!

Well, it has been a pretty rough winter of us!  Jack fell in the garage the Monday before Thanksgiving and broke a couple of ribs. Then in December he got a sinus infection and he would sneeze so hard that it didn’t help the ribs at all.  He was still trying to recuperate from the work he had to do on the motor home last summer.  Jack has lost 30 lbs and is about 152 lbs now.  He just can’t seem to get any strength back.  Needless to say we were unable to make the trip to Texas this year.

We ask for your prayers in this matter that Jack and I can get enough strength and energy back for the calling that GOD has for us to continue on.  We realize with our age it takes a while to heal, but we have a MIGHTY GOD!

Praise The Lord!  Thank you so much for your love gift in November!

We had a toy run and what a time it was!  Served hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, coleslaw, Little Debbie desserts to over 150 people.  Santa and his dog Corky, gave over 85 children a gift.   We took desserts to the jail for the men and women there. Toys that were leftover went to Angle Tree.  The food that was collected went to Food for Life.  The people at the Food for Life and Angle Tree were very appreciative of the donation.  We thank all who contributed to the Toy Run!

We seek the LORD about our Texas trip this winter.  We need strength and Finances to make the trip.  Please pray with us on this matter.

We finally got our book The Enforcer in!  It would make a great Christmas gift, $5.00 plus $3.00 s/h.  We are in need of about $750.00 to cover the cost of the printing.  We under estimated the final cost.

Praise The Lord!  Thank you so much your love gift in October!  After the busy month of September we slowed down some in October!  We are getting ready for our From Crime To Christ Annual Toy Run.  This will be our 11th one.  We have it the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Clinton, Arkansas.  We have a parade with motorcycles, old cars, tractors and whatever!  Then Santa and his dog Corky give each child a gift personally!  I think Corky gets more attention than Santa!  Last year for months after, when Jack would see a child at Baskin & Robbins they would ask how Corky was doing.  Not how Santa was!  To participate all that is needed is to bring a new child’s gift plus a food article for the Food For Life Program.  There is a lot of time, effort and money put into this.  If you would like to donate to From Crime To Christ with a few extra dollars, please added to you monthly donation, it would be greatly appreciated!

Praise The Lord!!! Thank you so much your love gift in September!

What a busy exciting month!  We had our annual Hot Springs Rally where we were able to meet & greet Trace Adkins, as we are a part of the rally.  It was short but Jack was able to give him The Enforcer book.  Please pray that he will read it.  He has been on our prayer list for quite a few years.  We ask you to put him on your prayer list too.  GOD had spared his life for a reason!  Our Sunday morning service is growing each year!

Jack & Dennis Ballinger were able to join Larry & Kathy Medord.  Locked Down for The Lord Ministries, going into Malvern Prison for a motorcycle day with the inmates.  Jack preached Saturday night & was told that 100 men made decisions for the LORD! GLORY!

Jack & Dennis went to Eureka Springs where the Passion Play is for the First annual motorcycle rally.  Jack gave his testimony and they hope to make this an annual event. They had a good turn out!

We ask for your prayers for health and strength.  Jack has lost about 20 lbs this summer.  He has not been able to get his strength back from all the work he had to do on the motor home this summer.  Our God is the Great Supplier of all our needs.  We especially ask for you to remember the ministry in the area of finances!

Praise The Lord!  We appreciate so much your love gift in August!

Sorry this thank you note is so late.  Seems like the older I get the more behind on things I get.  I had my 78th
birthday on the 2lst! GOD IS GOOD!

On August the 1st we had a Biker Sunday in Russellville, AR.  It was good to meet a lot of new friends & old friends.  GOD touched a lot of lives!

On August 8th we had a the Second Annual Biker Sunday at Grace Church in Clinton, AR.  Again we had a great meeting with GOD showing up & showing out!

On the 29th we got to have some fellowship & a meal with some dear friends Frank & Carol Hartman from Sherwood, AR.  We shared a lot of stories from an ex-cop & an ex-con!

Then on the 29th Jack rode to the Alexander Youth Center with several bikers and old car enthusiasts.  This time 17 young people accepted the LORD into their lives.  This makes 97 this year.  They will get to go back to the Center November 30th.

We hope to go to Texas this winter as it is suppose to be a bad one!

Praise The Lord!!! We appreciate so much your love gift in July!

We left home on July 4th headed for our meeting in St. Charles, MO.  Got 10 minutes away & the generator on the motor home stopped.  In 90 degree temperature it doesn’t take long for it to get unbearable!  After Jack working on it for almost three hours we headed back home.  We had to cancel the meeting.  Got it fixed on Monday morning at the cost of $500.00.  Then we were on our way to Illinois.  We didn’t have water in the motor home.  We were hoping it wasn’t the water heater.  Got it worked on Wednesday & it was a leak in a couple of hoses.  Got some more repairs done & that came to $300.00.  So with the new flooring put in the slide out the total was $1,000.00.  But thank GOD it is working line now!

We had several meetings including the St. Joe County Jail. GOD moved in a mighty way at all the meetings!

Sorry this letter is late but had a lot of catching up to do being gone for three weeks!! And a busy August & September ahead of us!

Praise The Lord! !! We appreciate so much your love gilt in March! Jack & Dennis Ballinger rode their bikes to Texas for meeting the first week in March. GOD really showed up in these five meeting. A young man was
delivered from a demon and another young man was delivered from homosexuality. Jack left that meeting at 11pm and the people were still praising the LORD! Then they had a meeting at a Fellowship of Christian
Athlete’s meeting in a high school, that was open to all the students. A young man told Jack & Dennis after the meeting he wanted to accept the LORD into his life. Our friends from Illinois, Dave & Darlene Trinkle, came down for the meetings. Their daughter & son-in-law from Haslet, TX came too. All of them were able to stay at Camp Ta-Ku-La in Chester, TX. We thank the camp for letting them use their facilities.

Then the last Sunday in March Jack went to Alexander Youth Center, with the Christian Car Club & several bikers. They go in every fifth Sunday. Jack gave his testimony this time and thirty-two young people gave their lives to the LORD! GOD is so good!

Another busy month!  Started out with a trip Logansport, LA on October 6th He and Dennis Ballinger rode their bikes there for a service on the 6th.  The weather was calling for a hurricane to hit New Orleans.  Well, it came all
the way to northern LA.  Jack said when semis were coming from the opposite direction it was like they were surfing, with the waves going over their heads.  He said he was dirt tracking on asphalt at times.  Their rain
suits did not keep them dry.  When they got to Herb & Mary Delsanto’s house they were drenched.  They had the service on Sunday morning and then headed to Texarkana, TX for a service that evening in 60-70 mile winds.  What a time they had. GOD showed up and showed out. Lives were touched!

Then on the 18th  they headed to NE Tennessee.  Where they had another service.  Thank GOD they had nice but cold weather for that trip.

Then on October 27th the Chairman of our Board, Hank Adams, went Home with the LORD!  He served faithfully for 35 years.  Jack made the trip to South Bend, IN to take part in the memorial

Praise The Lord!  Thank you for you for contribution in July!  We had a busy month!  We were gone for three weeks.  And had ten meetings.  And a lot of traveling into MO, IL, southern and northern TN.  Plus one day we had to get some repairs done on the motor home.

Many lives were touched by the LORD!  Especially in the St. Joseph County Jail.  The Holy Spirit came down heavily in the meetings!

GOD gave us the strength that was needed for the meetings and the traveling.  But we are very tired when we get home.

We have very sad news.  A dear friend. Linda Rice, wife of Paul was killed in a tragic accident last Sunday, August the 11. . She worked at the Exxon Station where Baskin & Robbins is in Clinton.  Paul is a Van Buren
County Deputy & also a dear friend of ours.  Please pray for the family.  Her nine year old grand daughter, Jennifer, was injured in the accident.  She will be okay but will have emotional scars.  It hasn’t been too many months since she lost her daddy in an accident.

Jack will be having a couple of meetings in Kansas City, KS the 25th of August.  He hopefully will be riding his bike there.  Hold him in your prayers.

Praise The Lord!  We thank you so much for your contribution in March.  Thank GOD for the warm spring like weather in April.  Was a long cold winter, since we did not get to go to Texas this year.

Jack went to a secular rally here in Arkansas.  And the next weekend he left home at 37 degrees to go to Conway which is an hours ride, to ride with the Patriot Guard to escort the remains of 24 year old William Wesley Dale back to Clinton.  It took Jack a long time to thaw out.

Jack went to the Alexander Youth Center last Sunday and it was storming so bad they wouldn’t let the young people out of their barracks because of the lightning and hail.  So there was no meeting.

The meetings in the local jail are still having great results!

I am still struggling with the shingles in my eye.  But I got new glasses and it has helped a lot with my vision.

/We are still trying to raise funs for the books. We may have to see about less books at a higher price per book.

Praise The Lord!  We thank you so much for your contributions in February!  As I write this Jack is ministering in the local county jail as he does each Wednesday night that we are home.

We received a note today along with a contribution.  I want to share part of it with you.  "We are in our 22nd year at Hardin County Jail, thanks to you Jack."  It reminded me that a couple of years ago we were trying to remember all the jail and prison ministries that we had a part in getting them going.  We came up with over 25-30 at a time.  We thank GOD that we were used by Him to reach out to many inmates.

We are repeating the information about the printing of the books to keep you informed on the latest funds in for that need.

We have a printer for our book The Enforcer.  We use to be able to get our books by the box as many as we wanted at a time.  Whether it be one box or two or three or whatever.  Now we have to order at least 50 boxes.  Which will cost us approximately $5,500.00.  This would include payment for the shipping of the books to our place.  Needless to say we do not have the funds.  We have received $1,200.00 towards this.  If you or someone you may know, that would be willing to invest in this, we would greatly appreciate any amount towards getting them.  We have very few of the books left.

We had a meeting at a youth center here in Arkansas.  Went in with bikers and a Christian Car Club.  Had an awesome response from the youth.  We were also privileged to attend the baptism of an 8 year old friend of ours. It was very moving as the pastor handed her a Bible, she just sobbed.  We also attended a church where Jack gave his testimony!  Jack has still being going to the County Jail for services weekly also.

Praise The Lord! !!  We thank you so much for the much needed contribution in June!   We had a very busy

month!  Much was accomplished for the Kingdom of GOD!!

We had 18 meetings.  One was a youth meeting, in Plymouth, IN with over 100 young people.  80% of them are not from Christian homes.  You could hear a pin drop while we ministered.  And we were able to pray with many of them as tears flowed.  We are looking forward to being with them again next year.

Jack ministered in 8 meetings in the St. Joseph County Jail in Indiana. Many lives were touched.  Jack will be going for a week of meetings there next year.  He also went to Westville Prison for a service.

And of course satan has fought us every step of the way!  On the way home we spent 5 hours at a gas station in Bald Knob, AR.  The bearings went out on one of the wheels on the trailer we haul the motorcycle in.  Jack had to run back & forth to Searcy to get parts, after lifting the heavy tire and putting it in the trike trunk as all the numbers for the parts had burned of.  Got home at 12:30 PM.  Pretty rough on these old bodies!!

Carolyn still needs prayer for healing.  She has a lot of shakiness!!  And of course, Jack needs prayer for strength! We know GOD will provide all our needs through HIS Riches in Glory!  As it looks like we have a lot of work a head of us!!

Please be praying for us about getting more of our books, The Enforcer, printed.  We had been getting them through Chaplain Ray’s ministry, as we needed them, but they are now out of them.  Our problem is that to get a good price on them we would have to order about 25,000.  And we do not have a place to store them.  Plus coming up with the money would be our biggest concern.

We covet your prayers for health, strength. Our God is the Great Supplier of all our needs.  We love and appreciate you so much!!

Praise The Lord!  We thank you so much for the much needed contribution in March.  GOD blessed us with two church services during the month of March.  They helped us financially to make the trip home.  We had trouble getting the motor home started before we left the youth camp on the 22nd of March.  We got a later start then we wanted to.  We stopped to fuel up in Carthage, TX and it wouldn’t start again.  Jack tried everything for about a half hour then he said, "All right LORD we need your help.”  Within a few minutes along came a 16 year old cowboy and his mother.  She said. “Festus can do anything"?  About that time he was crawling under the front of the motor home and coming out with the battery.  He took Jack to Walmart where he got a battery and after we got it in and ate we were on our way.  Thank GOD for angels in the form of cowboys!  We didn’t stop until 11:30 that night.  The state fairgrounds we had planned on staying at was filled up with rodeo people.  The joys of traveling.  Smile!

Jack was able to finish up painting the cafeteria building but didn’t get the cross painted on the back of the church bus as he has planned on doing.  So much rain, but Texas needed the rain.  Now we are home catching up on a lot of stuff before we head out again.

We covet your prayers for health, strength.  Our God is the Great Supplier of all our needs.  We love and appreciate you so much!!.

Then Sunday he left in 28 degree temps at 6 AM to go to a youth center an hour an half away.

The rest of the month we were busy getting things together for the 8th Annual Toy Run to be held the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Jack is still going to the local county jail, seeing growth in the men's lives there!! In fact he is there now as I am preparing this note to you.

We covet your prayers for health, strength and traveling mercies. Our God is the Great Supplier of all our needs.  We love and appreciate you so much!!

We did get the laminated floor laid in the bedroom in the house. Hope to start in the living room next.

Have a very Blessed Thanksgiving!  In His Love and Service;

Happy Jack & Mama Carolyn

PRISON MINISTRIES
From Crime to Christ, Inc.

Praise The Lord! !!  Thank you so much for your contribution in July!!  It was quite a month for us.  We headed for Indiana and on the way I broke out with shingles on my forehead going into my eye.  I am being treated by a ophthalmologist.  Had to be treated in Indiana Until we got home on August 7th.

First day in Elkhart, IN the trike broke down by the side of the road.  The modulator went out.  On the way home we stopped at a campground and was invaded with millions of baby mosquitoes.  The whole trip of 1,500 miles was almost all without an air conditioner as the generator kept shutting off.  And as you know it was near 100 degrees.  The only time we had air was when we were plugged into electric at a campground.  Well, we found out that the modulator was out in the generator also.  We had to order it and we will be making the second trip an hour away with no air condition tomorrow.  The modulator alone is over $300 not counting labor.  So with all the repairs and continues visits to the eye doctor it has been a very costly summer.

I have to continue the doctor visits for quite some time yet as they are keeping a close watch on the cornea, as it could lead to blindness, but I have a lot of prayers going up for me!!  So this was the second year that I could not attend the meetings in IN.  Last year I broke my ankle the second day there.  But the meetings were awesome!!  Started in Thayer, MO was a biker Sunday.  In Peru, IN Jack went to a prison, and in Northern Indiana Jack had a bike/car show, a biker church, 3 church services, juvenile prison, plus taking such good care of me, doctoring me all the time putting up to 14 drops a day in my eye at different times.

Two of the prisons were canceled as there were 3 killings in the prisons there. I do believe the devil is mad at us!!  But we would rather have him mad at us then to be happy with us!! Tonight Jack is at the local county jail giving the devil another black eye!!  We covet your prayers for health, strength and traveling mercies.   And of course for our finances that have been hit so heavy!  Our God is the Great Supplier of all our needs.

RICHES IN GLORY!!!!

News letter June 2011

JACK & CAROLYN BURBRIDGE PRISON MINISTRIES
From Crime to Christ, Inc.

Praise the Lord! Well, it has been six months since our last newsletter in December. We left for Texas on the 1& of December. Stopped off in Logansport, LA where we had services at a Cowboy Church. Then continued on to Camp Ta-Ku-La in Chester where we spent the next three months working at the camp and having meeting around the area.

We spoke at a Lion's Club Meeting in Woodville, TX. Then had two days of meeting at Chester High School. The young people were very receptive and had a lot of questions. Want to mention that our good friends, Dave & Darlene Trinkle, from Illinois spent the winter with us at the camp and went to meetings with us. We went into the prison in Woodville again this year. Was good to see our friends again there. We had three church services in February. And two youth services. In February Chuck & Kookie Nipper, from Clinton, AR, came and spent a few days helping at the camp. Later in the month Herb & Mary Dal Santo, from Logansport, LA, came and helped scrape on a two story building, helping prepare it for Jack to paint. In March Nick the Greek and his friend, Terry stopped on their way through to Louisiana. We always enjoy a visit with Nick. We spent most of March preparing and painting the house. Had a church service in Logansport, LA with our good friends, Herb & Mary Dal Santo.

We got home on our daughter, Jackie's, 50th birthday. Was home six days when our home flooded from a broken water heater. We were still in the motor home so didn't discover it right away. We are spending what available time we have tearing up carpets and laying laminated wood tiling.
Jack is going into the local jail every week while we are home.

We are going to cut down our mailing list drastically. You will be able to read it on our web site,
www. fromcrimetochrist.com Of course, if we receive a donation from you in any given month you will receive a thank you letter with up-dates of our activities. So, if you check the web site in December and June you can read the newsletter. It takes money and a lot of time to put together a newsletter, so I hope you will understand.

We are so thankful for each and everyone of you, for your love, prayers and financial help. It is not an easy ministry He called us to but He gives us the strength to keep going on. We so appreciate every financial contribution whether it is large or small as it has been a very hard year financially. OUR GOD IS ABLE TO SUPPLY ALL OUR NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES IN GLORY!!!!

In His Love & Service;

Happy Jack & Mama Carolyn

Message from Terry Simpson, Grace Church

I want to speak about what is unique with this church. When someone starts a church it should be different from the others around it. Why start another when so many churches are near empty. To get to this I want us to look at what is wrong with the typical church of our day.

The modern American church is in serious decline. Every statistic proves this. Less than 20% of Americans attend church these days. This is an abysmal failure on our part. With the power of God in the gospel and the Spirit of God, we are not even close to keeping up with the population growth. While the combined membership of all Protestant denominations in the USA has declined in recent years by almost 5 million members, the US population increased by 24 million. We are failing miserably. Every year more than 4,000 churches close their doors and 2.7 million church members disappear from the church radar screen. We lose that many every year. Some major denominations are in as much as a 40% decline from one decade to another. Half of all churches in the US did not add any new members to their ranks in the last two years.  Statistics from Barna Research reported recently that perhaps 50% of people who go to a church are not even Christians. Most well-known Christian pastors and leaders say they believe as many as 75% of church members are lost.  The latest statistic I have read says that as many as 92% of young people who grow up in church drop out permanently after they graduate from high school.  We’re in a major mess. The last thing we need is another church like the ones we’ve got.  Grace Church will be different. Expect it and don’t be shocked when you see it.

Why is the church in such a bad shape?  Two reasons:

1. The way they try to get people into the church.  Modern evangelism has reduced salvation to raising a hand, walking an aisle, repeating a prayer. None of these things are in the Bible. The people who are added to church roles these days come in by unbiblical methods. They are actually told to do things to be saved that the Bible never says. This has filled our church roles with unsaved people. If they stay in the church, they are carnal to the core. Grace Church is different. The Bible is clear. People are saved by repenting of their sins and believing the gospel. “But, people will think they are saved by simply having head knowledge of spiritual facts.” The Bible, and Jesus in particular, make it clear that assurance of salvation is only given to those who continue to follow Jesus and are transformed into the character of Christ. Assurance in the Bible is never given to a person who walks an aisle or repeats a prayer. Jesus said, “If you continue in My word, then are you My disciples indeed.” Grace Church will not preach a false gospel and neither will we hand out assurance on the basis of someone saying they believe. “You will know them by their fruits,” Jesus said.

2. They do not do the one thing Jesus told us to do.  Churches are busy doing many things but none that I know of is doing this one thing. I once was given a half hour to address a pastor’s conference. I began by asking this question: what is the one thing that a pastor must do?  I told them that they were not going to give me the right answer and that when I tell them the right answer they will totally agree with me and they will admit that they do not do it.  I wrote 8 of their answers on the huge dry erase board; then I told them none of the things they listed were right. I drew a bracket with an arrow to these words: “Make Disciples.” One pastor said, “That is exactly right! What was I thinking?”  I asked any pastor to raise his hand if he was doing this now or had ever done this one thing. Nobody raised a hand. They even humbled themselves and asked how do you do that. Imagine pastors who don’t even know how to do the one thing that Jesus said we were to be doing until He returned. I told them I know of only one pastor who does this, besides me. I left the platform after an hour and a half; then some of us continued the discussion over lunch. Churches are not making disciples. No wonder we are in the mess we are in!

Tim Clark was given a warning concerning our church by a man in this town. He said our church was going to grow and grow and get bigger and bigger. To him, that was a bad thing. And if all we do is get a bigger attendance on Sundays, he’s right. That is not necessarily a good thing.  But, God’s goal is for our church to get bigger and smaller at the same time! Jesus had multitudes that came to hear Him preach, but he only kept with Him 12 guys. These He poured His life into. These He discipled. This was His Master Plan of Evangelism to win the world.  Discipleship is accomplished in small groups. Envision a church where large numbers come to worship together, but where small groups meet in homes every week to get connected, ministered to and equipped for ministry. Sunday School is wonderful but it’s not the same. Nobody gets discipled in SS. It takes small groups of people who make themselves accountable to each other for learning how to be a disciple of Christ and learning how to make more disciples.

Grace to you,
Pastor Terry Simpson

TREASURES

This is a prophecy given to Bill Yount, an advisor for a local Women's AGLOW Fellowship

It was late one night and Bill was unable to sleep. The Lord had asked a question of him, and he was struggling for the answer.

"Bill, where on earth does man keep his most priceless treasures?"

"Lord, usually gold, silver, diamonds, precious jewels are kept locked up, somewhere out of sight and usually guards and security are there to keep them under lock and key."

God spoke: "Like man, My most valuable treasures are kicked up."

Bill continued: Then I saw Jesus standing in front of seemingly thousands of prisons and jails and the Lord said, "These have almost been destroyed by the enemy, but these ones have the greatest potential to be used and to bring forth glory to My name. Tell My people I am going to the prisons in this hour to activate the gifts and callings that lie dormant in these lives that were given to them before the foundation of the earth. Out from these walls will come an army of spiritual giants who will have the power to literally kick down the gates of hell and overcome Satanic powers that are holding many of My own people bound in My own house. Tell My people that great treasure is behind these walls in these forgotten vessels and they must be restored."

"My people must come forth and touch these ones, for a mighty anointing will be unleashed upon these for future victory in My kingdom and they must be restored."

I then saw the Lord step up to the prison doors with keys. One key fit every lock. Then the gates began to open. I then heard and saw great explosions, which sounded like dynamite, going off behind the walls. It sounded like all-out spiritual warfare.

Jesus turned and said: "Tell My people to come in now and pick up the spoil and rescue these." Jesus began walking in and touching inmates who were thronging Him. Many being touched instantly began to have a golden glow come over them. God spoke to me, "There's the gold!" Others had a silver glow around them. God said: "There's the silver!" And like slow motion, they began to grow into what appeared to be giant knights-in-armor, like warriors. They had on the entire armor of God and every piece was solid and pure gold, even gold shields. When I saw the shields, I heard God say to these warriors:

"Now you go and take what Satan has taught you, and use it against him. Go and pull down the strongholds coming against My church."

These spiritual giants then started stepping over the prison walls (with no one to resist them), and they went immediately to the very front line of battle with the enemy. I saw them walk right past the church and big-name ministers known for their power with God. They surpassed even giant warriors like David going after Goliath. They crossed the enemy lines and started delivering many of God's people from the clutches of Satan while demons trembled and flew out of sight at their presence.

No one, not even the church, seemed to know who these spiritual giants were or where they came from for all you could see was the armor, the golden armor of God, from head to foot, and the shields of gold were there. The shields were restored to God's house and there was great victory and rejoicing.

I saw silver, precious treasures and vessels being brought in. Beneath the gold and silver were the people that nobody knew - rejects of society, street people, outcasts, the poor, the despised - these were the treasures that were missing from His house.

In closing, the Lord said: "If My people want to know where they are needed, tell them they are needed in the streets, the hospitals, the missions, and the prisons; and when they come there, they'll find Me and the next move of My Spirit. Tell them they'll be judged by My Word in Matthew 24:42:

I was hungry, and you gave me no meat. I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you took Me not in; naked and you clothed Me not; sick and in prison and you visited Me not."
